Biometric identification technology is a kind of technology using individual biometric Characteristics to verify identity.Compared with other biometrics technology,face recognition is more direct,friendly and convenient.So the technology of face recognition have quite wide application,it is one of the hottest research directions in pattern recognition area.Face recognition has been intensively investigated by researchers and many useful algorithms have been developed.Usually a complete face recognition system includes face detection,feature extraction and face recognition.The recognition effects will be affected by quality of feature extraction directly.The eye is the most important organ of face.As the accuracy of eye detection will affect the quality of feature extraction,rapid and precise eye detection is considered the most crucial work to be dealt with.In this paper,in order to locate the eye exactly and quickly,a new eye locating method based on skin color detection is put forward.It uses morphologic operation to optimize possible eye areas gradually in RGB chrominance space.Then,reduce the candidate area of the eyes by restricting every area's size and the ratio of eye's height and width.Thus,eye locating based-on color image be realized.This new method has the following improvement and innovation.Firstly,by using RGB chrominance space to do skin color segmentation can extract facial features more effectively and rapidly.After the skin color segmentation,remove the noise of the object area to reduce possible eye areas directly.By masking no-eye areas and removing border-connected area,eyes' candidate areas can be decreased greatly,and the detection becomes speedier.New restrictions are added to increase the locating accuracy.This method can locate eyes simply and rapidly be proved in test result. What's more,the faces with some rotation angle,eyes can also be located exactly.The algorithm in this paper be realized by emulation of MATLAB language.The result of the experimentation accomplishes the destination and proves the availability of the method.
