In recent years, with the rapid development of telecommunications, the traditional fixed-line business outlook is very grim. The business development of communications network is mainly from voice service to data and multimedia service. From the trend, we can see the development goals of the communications network:mobility, broadband and convergence trend.Softswitch-based technology of NGN is a business-driven network, which achieves open architecture by separating function module of call control, media exchange and load bearing. All elements of the network can communicate with standard protocols and evolve independently, so it will adapt to the development of future technology. Bearing layer of soft-switch architecture is an IP packet-based switching network. It converts different types of business media into IP packet for transmitting in different types of media gateways and forms a flat network between media gateway by using the end-to-end IP addressing ability. This simplifies the network typology and the network flexibility reduces the cost of network construction, operation and maintenance. Abundant business and functions will be provided and the smooth evolution of the mobile network to the next generation can be achieved.This paper first introduces the structure, interface protocols and core network evolution of CDMA 2000 system. The structure and characteristics of the NGN network, basic structure and main agreement of softswitch technology are also presented. Then targeting the second-period CDMA core network project of Anhui Chaohu telecom, a study is conducted on the planning of softswitch transformation of mobile core network, including the network element provisioning and its capacity, bandwidth and BHCA prediction.
