The subject of this paper roots in the project of building transmission network for CDMA2000 1xEV-DO RevA wireless network by China Telecom Zhoushan Branch. In October 2008,China Telecom Zhoushan Branch started to invest in building CDMA 2000 1xEV-DO RevA wireless network, and puted into operation in the May 2009.According to the structure of CDMA2000 1xEV-DO RevA,the networking of BSC and BTS is still a star network, but the bandwidth requirements of Abis interface is more times CDMA2000 1X, and the transmission mode began to support the IP mode. So, the transmission networks must offer higher bandwidth and support IP transfer capabilities. Now, the transmission of Abis interface can achieved by SDH, MSTP, PON and PTN etc, but considering the reliability,scability,investment cost of the network,and the urgency of the time, China Telecom Zhoushan Branch decided using MSTP to achieve development.Therefore, How to using MSTP achieve reliable and effective transmission for Abis interface is to become the subject of study.This paper results from the project of building China Telecom Zhoushan Branch's MSTP transmission network which supporting CDMA2000 1xEV-DO wireless network. Firstly, this paper introduces the background and significance of this subject in Chapter One. General description of MSTP technical specification has been mentioned in Chapter Two. Chapter Three is on MSTP transmission network analysis and design; Chapter Four is on MSTP transmission network building and also ethernet private line application in detail. The last chapter has analyzed advantages, disadvantages and next steps of current design.
