In smart home space, various of kinds of smart devices, which have the abilities to compute, to perceive and to execute, are installed in many places in the room of smart home. This makes the physical home space become a smart space utilizing knowledge expression and rule based reasoning. This smart space can provide the necessary information and technology support for many kinds of entities such as home users and machines.Compare to the Smart Classroom and other smart spaces studied before, the smart home space includes more kinds of devices and the structure of the network established between these devices becomes more complex. Besides, most devices used in the home space can only receive simple control signal and execute corresponding action due to lack of great computing ability. To make the connection between the inner and outer of the home space, smart home space needs a device which acts as a intermediary to realize the connection and sharing between different smart home spaces. To implement the smart control of devices in the home space, as the requirement of the smart home space, the home network environment should be monitored in a real time, dynamic and intelligent way to correspond and adjust to the change of the states of the home space. By utilizing the smart home gateway technology, the connection between different smart home spaces and the intelligent control of the insider of home space can be implemented.Considering the aspect of connection of smart home spaces, in this thesis, a network interconnection model based on P2P technology is proposed. By layering the Gnutella network model which runs on the Internet backbone network and applying the theory of "small world" and "power law", a multilayer structure of smart home gateway called SGP2P (Smart home gateway based on P2P technology). Furthermore, several aspects of the SGP2P such as its making up, maintaining, existing and routing policies are investigated and can be used as the base of implementing service sharing between different smart home spaces.Considering the aspect of control of insider of the smart home space, in this thesis, we propose a composed hardware structure which consists of PC and ARM systems. PC can realize the interconnection between different networks, program and output control signal through serial ports while the control of devices of smart home space is finished by the ARM. Relating to the software framework, the framework is divided into four parts:hardware control module, infonnation service module, service sharing module and CPU monitoring module. The hardware control module connects different networks in the home space and identify and register devices and make them execute. The information service module implements the interface between user and networks in the home space. The service sharing module provides other users virtualized devices and data in the form or services. By monitoring the usage of CPU, the CPU monitoring module guarantee the well performance of smart home space while the home gateway provides services.Finally, we justify the SGP2P network model through the LAN constituted by PCs. First, we set up a event driven stimulative network. By randomly distributing web page information to many initialized nodes through Lucene engine packet, we utilize the ISM routine algorithm to compare the effect of the SGP2P model with that of the pure distributed P2P model. It is proven that SGP2P model can make smart home gateway has a better effort of query and search. Besides, by carring out the following two simulative experiment:identifying and controlling the air condition based on infrared ray protocol through serial ports, remotely controlling the lighting devices based on X10 protocol, we justify that the home space gateway has the ability to control the devices based on different protocols.
