With the development of public transport service network, it has lead to a great convenience for the public's travel. However, it also causes some problems. For example, it is a hard work to rapidly find useful bus information in the public transport service network. To solve the problem, an Intelligent Query System for mass transit is developed for them.Considering that the rapid development of mobile communication technology and the increasing popularity of portable mobile devices, more and more people expect to access the information they need at any time and anywhere. Nevertheless, the current distributed systems based on fixed network or mobile devices are largely run on fixed platforms. As a result, it is obvious that the current systems can not meet above-mentioned requirements.Aiming at the problem of the development of intelligent transport query system, a Web Service-based Intelligent Query System is proposed in this paper. Generally speaking, service providers, service registry centers and service requestors are going to finish the tasks of storage and inquiry of public transportation information together. First of all, service providers, which have relatively powerful ability in software and hardware, will accomplish specific public transport information query and storage tasks in their platforms. In the second place, the service registry centers will complete the tasks of description and distribution of public transportation information services. So it can effectively reduce burden of the service requestors (mobile clients). As we know, the key of web service technology is the parse of XML documents. Although different mobile clients are going to parse XML documents by means of different approaches, the parsing results are identical. Consequently, public transportation information inquiry services can be transplanted in different mobile platforms. In order to verify the transplant ability of the system, the public transportation information inquiry services will be called by J2ME, Windows Mobile and other different mobile platforms. In the aspect of overall architecture of the system, a kind of web service-oriented Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture is presented in this paper. Not only will it ensure that multi-view can share the same bus information query model, but also it will realize that cross-platform multi-view can share the same bus information query model. With respect to realization of the server side, firstly, the appropriate travel information can be obtained by SQL Server database. Secondly, the optimal travel information can be found out by means of particle swarm optimization algorithm. Last but not least, in order to improve the scalability of the system, factory method pattern is used for the code management on the server-side.
