Design And Implementation Of Mobile Information Service System On J2ME Devices

Embedded technologies and network have been deeply changing people's life. On one hand, new mobile devices and applications emerge continuously. On the other hand, people benefit from various information services and actively create and share information. It can be predicted that mobile information service which combines mobile devices and information services will bring any-time and any-place information obtaining, distribution and sharing.This thesis presents an overall solution to the design and implementation of mobile information service system on mobile devices. Solutions to information description, network communication, database implementation and data security are detailed. J2ME is used as the software platform to take advantage of its platform-independence. Suitable schemes are adopted for effective and scalable design, and implementations are optimized considering resource-limitation of embedded devices and low efficiency of J2ME.A real-world mobile information service system is implemented, which is referred to as mobile picture service. In this system, users can take pictures with their mobile phones, upload the pictures to the server for storing and sharing, view others'pictures and download the pictures to local database. Solutions in the thesis are applied in the design and implementation of this reference system, which show good effect and performance.
