This thesis discusses new methodology in both theory and practice to expand the traditional Web information systems to mobile application systems so as to increase the value in enterprise services, improve the running efficiency, and better the image of the enterprise. For this research, the thesis exemplifies the method and procedure using an instance to illustrate the transferring from Web system to mobile applications system. The thesis first present the instance. It is a Web-based public class registration system in a university. The thesis analyze the data structure and the application logic in the Web systems, design and implement a new approach -- to register the class via cellphone, and discuss some key technologic. In detail, the thesis present the design model for mobile class registration, which include the task logic design, representation logic design, system interface design, and database design. The J2EE is applied at the server side to develop JavaServlet and EJB applications, which runs on BEA WebLogic Server platform. At the client side, to implement the communication between the client and the service interface, the thesis use httpconnection to connect to Servelet, EJB, and MS SQL Server2000 whenever necessary based on J2ME specifications in the WTK2.2.At the same time, the thesis use MD5 to encrypt the password transmission to ensure the data confidentiality. The thesis also compare the distribution methods in J2EE and J2ME and test in a prototype system. The thesis envision J2ME based mobile applications will be widely used to realize the value-adding services.
