China's tourism development" Eleventh Five-Year Plan" have clearly put forward that the west side of the Straits of Fujian-based tourism development ranks the first place in the future. It makes Fujian tourism become the leading industry in the building the economic zone on the west side of the Straits. Both opportunities and challenges exist. The rapid development of the tourism industry not only makes new requirements and tasks to reform and development of the Fujian Tourism secondary vocational education, but also brings great vigor for Fujian secondary vocational education.In this paper, the author adopts literature, investigation method, interviews and comparative analysis. From the economic background of Fujian secondary vocational education in tourism, it describes the status and trend of tourism development in Fujian and analyses the demand for talent in tourism industry. This paper also surveys the status quo of the secondary vocational education in Fujian from many aspects, such as from the school the scale of development, regional development differences, curriculum, as well as the status of faculty. It digs out the problems which exist in the process of development from the data obtained and relevant information. The author analyses the causes of the problems according to nearly two decades of professional experience in teaching the theory and practice to guide the work of teachers. In this paper, the author puts forward some strategies to the Fujian secondary vocational education, that is, to construct the system of secondary vocational education to the development of the west side of the Straits; to deepen curriculum and teaching reform to enhance student's ability to serve the tourism industry; to strengthen professional and part-time teachers.
