Wu Zhangshu is a famous contemporary Chinese scholar, poet and calligrapher, former chairperson of Literature and Art Joint front of Chinese calligraphy, Curator of Hubei Literature & History Research Museum, President of Hubei Poetry Society, Vice-Chairman of Hubei Calligraphers Association, President of Calligraphy Journal News Agency and so on. Among the contemporary calligraphers, Wu Zhangshu has a relatively more comprehensive mastery. Taking the "poetry and literature in one" creative melody, and based on his extraordinary memory, profound mastery, as well as broad-mindedness, he extended his reading, learned from the past and was able to apply the ancient learning to his work. He also could penetrate the spirit from his reading of Six Dynasties of Han and Wei into his ink. Hence, the noble poetry and calligraphy are melted into his creative mood. His profound command of poetry and calligraphy as well as his insight of calligraphy help him find the key to the "power beyond paper" in the stipple structure. He was inspired by what he observes and put his inspiration into the creative stroves. in order to outspoken strokes out of a rich, "poetry and literature in one" creative way. He paves the way of the combination of poetry and literature.For this reason, it is necessary to study Wu Zhangshu's calligraphy as a whole and put them in order.This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is about the historical reflection of "Poetry and the book", which focuses on the historical features and characteristics of the times.The second chapter centers at Artistic Relationship of Arts of "Poetry and the book". The third chapter introduces Wu Zhangshu's life of poetry and literature. The fourth chapter discussed the aesthetic value of Wu Zhangshu's combination of poetry and literature. The final chapter anlyse the creative inspiration from Wu Zhangshu Style. The conclusion shall sum up the significance of Wu Zhangshu's creation on calligraphy, the artistic status of combination of poetry and literature.
