Irony-rhetorical Strategy In The Legend Of Hulan River Of Xiaohong's Novel

Xiaohong, according to her own disposition, temperament and talent, created a unique narrative mode. She finally achieved her ambition to critisize the deep-rooted traits of nationals through using rhetoric of irony consciously and analyzing the customs mildly and profoundly. After recalling the former studies of irony and current studies of "The Legend of Hulan River", this essay explored the narrative strategies of "The Legend of Hulan River" from the Angle of "irony" as the breakthrough.It also analyzed the irony of narrative elements concretly and, and discussed the word irony, situation irony,and general irony in the text. Moreover, it noticed "desolation" means pervading in the novels and the atmosphere for irony art characteristics. We try to explore a new way of making a more close and effective study to this novel.
