| In the 17th and 18th century, Chinese handicrafts set off a wave of their being pursued and admired fanatically in Europe, in which Chinese porcelain played a significant role. Meanwhile, the import of large quantities of Chinese porcelain had a very important influence on Western society and culture, which caused the transition of aesthetic style from Baroque to Rococo. So in my dissertation, firstly, I do research on the propagation of Dehua White porcelain and kraak porcelain in Europe in 17th and 18th century, which were representatives of Fujian porcelain for export. Also I do research on the response of European to Dehua White porcelain and kraak porcelain, and the contribution that Dehua White porcelain and kraak porcelain made on ceramic industry of Europe. Secondly, I discourse on the rise and manifestations of "China euphoria", and then on the objective reasons why Sinomania catered for time spirit of 17th and 18th in Europe. And I also discourse on a series of manifestation modes of the influence which Chinese porcelain made on Europe society. Thirdly, I study the relationship of Chinese porcelain and Rococo in terms of lines, decorations, asymmetric artistic effects, colors and art materials, and I draw a conclusion that Rococo was enlightened by Chinese porcelain. Lastly, I analyze the significance and the reasons for decline of Rococo, and reach a conclusion that humanistic awareness of Chinese porcelain infiltrated the core spirit of Rococo, so Rococo glowed with humanity. But Rococo showed European's misunderstanding and disrespect of Chinese art spirit, so rejecting the spirit meaning made Rococo die out finally. |
