Objective To investigate the issues about clinical features, alteration of hematology and peripheral lymphocytes subsets and so on ,these patients with pancytopenia in acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Methods To collect 338 cases of AIDS who were treated in The First Clinic Hospital of Xin jiang Medical University between January ,2002 and December ,2008. 26 cases of them were pancytopenia as the leader expression. We analyzed the clinical features, hematology indicatrix, results of bone marrow aspiration peripheral, lymphocytes subsets ,therapeutic approaches and outcomes . Results In the 26 patients, clinical manifestation including anaemia , blood loss ,fever, cough, infection of nervous system, lymphadenectasis, symptom of alimentary system, swollen occurred in 26,3,11,4,2,2,3 and 2 patients. Pneumocystis pneumonia, tuberculosis and other infection appeared in 16 patients. All the cases have pancytopenia and low plasma-albumin; CD4 Tcell count in pancytopenia patients was remarkablely decreased than that in the 83 cases of orthocytosis patients [23(11,34)cells/ul VS 193(82,338) cells/ul,(p<0.05). The hyperplasia of bone marrow in active or normai degree were more than in low; In AIDS patients ,there were direct relation between CD4+T cell count and total lymphocyte count(r=0.462,p<0.05).Conclusions AIDS patients with pancytopenia CD4+T cell count decreased obviously than that in orthocytosis patients; There were no direct relation between the degree of bone marrow and severity of pancytopenia; For the AIDS patients, when not have the condition of detecting CD4+T cell ,we can check the hemogram instead of CD4+T cell.To decide the advancement of the disease and assist the treatment drawing assistance from total lymphocyte count.
