Objective: To investigate the changes of gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) volume and amount of aspartate transaminase (AST) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in GCF during different materials porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crowns restoration. The effect of different inner crown material on gingival tissue was discussed. Methods: A total of 40 single teeth of 40 patients were conceived the restoration of Ni-Cr alloy PFM, Ti alloy PFM, Co-Cr alloy PFM and Au-Pt alloy PFM, under the circumstances of strictly limiting crown margin adaptation and periodontal conditions, the margin of crowns. They were divided into 4 groups, of which per group were 10 teeth. GCF was collected from labial and lingual of mesial site and distal site before the tooth preparation by filter paper of Whatman type 3. At the point of 1 month and 3months after cementation, GCF was collected at the same sites. At the same time, clinical observation indexes were recorded. Before preparation, the volume of GCF and the amount of AST and ALP were regarded as the baseline. The amount of AST and ALP were detected by automated chemical analyzer, were analyzed. The variation between the pre-restoration and post- restoration. Result: Compared to Per-restoration, the clinical observation indexes, the volume of GCF, the amount of AST and ALP in GCF have no statistical difference in Ni-Cr alloy group, Ti alloy group, Co-Cr alloy group after 1month (P>0.05); however, they have marked difference after 3 months (P<0.05). Compared to Per-restoration, all the observation indexes have no statistical difference in Au-Pt alloy group after 1 or 3 months (P>0.05). Compared to the four groups, the clinical observation indexes, the volume of GCF, the amount of AST and ALP in GCF have no statistical difference in pre-restoration and after 1 month (P>0.05); however, they have no statistical difference between Ni-Cr alloy group and Ti alloy group (P>0.05), have statistical difference with Co-Cr alloy group (P<0.05), Au-Pt alloy group after 3 months (P<0.05). Compared to Ti alloy group, all the observation indexes have statistical difference in Co-Cr alloy group (P<0.05), Au-Pt alloy group (P<0.05). Compared to Co-Cr alloy group, all the observation indexes have statistical difference in Au-Pt alloy group also (P< 0.05). The volume of GCF was positive correlation with GI, GCD and the amount of AST and ALP in GCF.Conclusion:The gingival tissue was stimulated of Ni-Cr alloy group, Ti alloy group and Co-Cr alloy group, but not in gingival tissue of Au-Pt alloy group after 3 months. Therefore, we should take noble metal PFM as possible as we can in the clinic. Co-Cr alloy can instead of Ni-Cr alloy in clinic.
