Objective:Through clinical research, investigate the situation of Maxing Huatan Decoction improving signs and symptoms of asthmatic children (Hot-induced asthma). Probe the effect of Maxing Huatan Decoction improving the situation on phlegm and hot obstructing airway. Methods:All patients observed were from both pediatric outpatients of the second Chinese medicine hospital in Guangdong Province and pediatric inpatients in Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine First Affiliated Hospital. They are the asthmatic children treated from October 2007 to March 2009. In accordance with the random principle(to use random number tables), the 90 cases of asthmatic children (Hot-induced asthma) were randomly divided into 3 groups. Each group contained 30 cases. One group of patients was treated by traditional Chinese and western medicine (Maxing Huatan Decoction+western medicine), one alone by Maxing Huatan Decoction, and another alone by western medicine. Through Patients were treated 5 days,3 groups of asthmatic children were respectively assessed the score of symptoms and detected with PEF before and after treatment. Observed the effect in Maxing Huatan Decoction improving clinical signs and symptoms and reducing the airflow limited of asthmatic children (Hot-induced asthma). Use simple statistical software process data. Results:In comprehensive efficacy, the total effective rate of the group treated by traditional Chinese and western medicine was 90%, and clinical control rate was 46.67%. The total effective rate of the group treated by Maxing Huatan Decoction was 83.33%, and clinical control rate was 13.33%. The total effective rate of the group treated by western medicine was 80%, and clinical control rate was 6.67%. So in comprehensive efficacy of asthmatic children, the group treated by traditional Chinese and western medicine was obviously better than the group treated by Maxing Huatan Decoction or western medicine. In improving PEF of asthmatic children, the total effective rate of the group treated by traditional Chinese and western medicine was 90%; one treated by Maxing Huatan Decoction was 83.33%, and one treated by western medicine was 80%. So in improving PEFR, the group treated by traditional Chinese and western medicine was better than the group treated by Maxing Huatan Decoction or western medicine. Before and after treatment, the PEFR of three group themselves were significantly different. the PEFR of three group were not significantly different after treatment. Conclusion:In relieving clinical signs and symptoms, the effect of treated by Maxing Huatan Decoction and western medicine is superior to alone by Maxing Huatan Decoction or western medicine. In reducing the airflow limited of asthmatic children (Hot-induced asthma), the effect of treated by Maxing Huatan Decoction and western medicine is slightly better than alone by Maxing Huatan Decoction or western medicine. The effect of treated solely by Maxing Huatan Decoction is better than western medicine in aspects of improving signs and symptoms of expectoration,Sputum sound and lungs wheezing sound. This study shows that Maxing Huatan Decoction could relieve Cough and wheezing of asthmatic children(Hot-induced asthma), to which phlegm and hot obstructing airway led.So it proved that Maxing Huatan Decoction could improve the situation of phlegm and hot obstructing airway.
