Objectives To investigate the anxiety in patients of ectopic pregnancy with conservative'treatment; to explore the factors affecting anxiety; to investigate the effects of progressive muscle relaxation trainings on anxiety, self-efficacy, social support, Index of Well-Being, sleeping and pain. Methods Basing on this experimental research study,90 patients with conservative treatment of ectopic pregnancy were chosen from the three different hospitals (Hainan Province Chinese Medinice Hospital, Haikou People's Hospital & Hainan Province People's Hospital) in Hainan province. Subjects were randomly assigned to two different groups,45 in the control group and 45 in the intervention group. Subjects in the intervention group received routine nursing care and PMR training, twice a day, every time 30 minutes, while those in control group only received routine nursing care. When the study was completed, there were 80 valid cases,43 in control group and 39 in intervention group. Before and after intervention, the patients were investigated using scales like State-Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAI), General Self-Efficacy Scale(GSES), Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS), Index of Well-Being, Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Athens Insomnia Scale(AIS) to evaluate the anxiety state, self-efficacy, social support, Index of Well-Being, sleeping and pain. Meanwhile the value'sβ-HCG and B-show mass diameter were recorded in admission and discharge. Results 1. The level of state anxiety(S-AI) in patients of Ectopic pregnancy with conservative treament were (50.21±3.75):the patients with moderate anxiety was 31.2%, and severe anxiety was 47.5% at admission. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that marital status, reproductive history, having children, and economic conditions were the factor affecting anxiety. 2. Paired-samples t test showed that the decrease of anxiety was statistically significant in the intervention group before and after intervention (t=22.99,P<0.05). The level of anxiety were alleviated in the control group, but the decrease was lower. Using two-sample t test to analysis showed the anxiety scores were statistically significant (t= 9.75,P<0.05) between the two groups after intervention.3. Paired-samples t test results showed that after intervention the self-efficacy scores of experimental group increased comparing with before intervention, and the difference was statistically significant(t=-4.75,P<0.05); Two-sample t test results showed that the self-efficacy scores was statistically significant(t=9.29, P<0.05) between the two groups after intervention.4.Wilconox sign-rank test results showed Subjective well-being (SWB) scores were statistically significant(P<0.05) in both two groups pre and post intervention, but scores of the experimental group after intervention were significantly higher than before intervention. Mann-Whitney U test results showed that the subjective well-being score was not statistically significant (Z=-0.48,P>0.05) between the two groups before intervention, and the score was statistically significant (Z=-4.02,P<0.05) after intervention.5. Paired-samples t test results showed that the social support scores were statistically significant(P<0.05) after intervention. Two-sample t test results shwed that the total social support, the subjective support and utilization of support scores were significant differences(P<0.05) after intervention, but objective support was no significant difference between the two groups (t=-1.75,P>0.05).6. By Wilconox sign-rank method compared the pain, and insomnia scores for the two groups pre and post intervention, the results showed that pain scores between the two groups were statistically significant (P<0.05), but pain score after intervention was significantly lower than before intervention in the experimental group. Insomnia score of the control group was no significant difference (Z=-1.54,.P>0.05) pre and post intervention, while insomnia score of the experimental group was significantly(Z=-4.28,P<0.05) pre and post intervention. The Mann-Whitney U test results showed that pain, and insomnia score between the experimental group and control group were not statistically significant(P> 0.05) before intervention, and pain, insomnia scores were significantly (P<0.05) in two groups after intervention.7. Covariance analysis showed that state anxiety scores, pain scores, and sleep scores were statistically significant difference (P<0.001) in the experimental group after intervention. Repeated measures analysis of variance showed that the main effects of intervention on self-efficacy, subjective well-being, the total social support, subjective support and support utilization were significant(P<0.05), in other words, the scores of five indicators were significantly different with the change of the intervention level without taking account of the change of time. The main effects of time on domains of five objective indicators were significant(P<0.05) except objective support. There were significant interactions between the factors and intervention (P<0.05) in 5 indicators. Doing outline interaction diagram showed that self-efficacy, subjective well-being, the total social support, subjective support, and support utilization were significant higher than the score after intervention comparing before intervention. Conclusion 1. the Ectopic pregnancy with conservative treament patients with moderate anxiety was 31.2%, and suffer from severe anxiety was 47.5% at admission. Marital status, reproductive history, economic conditions were the main factors of affecting anxiety.2. PMR training can effectively reduce the anxiety level in patients of ectopic pregnancy with conservative treatment.3.PMR training can effectively improve the patients' general self-efficacy, subjective well-being, the total social support, subjective support and support utilization conditions.4. PMR training can effectively reduce the pain and improve sleeping.
