As an important foodstuff and economic crop, the soybean was all along highly regarded in Chinese traditional agriculture. So in order to ensure the safety of the national food production and protect the soybean processing industry, we must adequately evaluate the traditional agriculture and take advantage of the ancient cultivation experiences to promote the modern soybean production.Combined with the documentary research and the proof of the cultural relics, the author investigated various species of the soybean in the middle-lower reach of the Yellow River and probed the geographic features, climate characteristic, physiognomic features and soil traits of this area. On the base of that he seriously put forward his idea that the middle-lower reach of the Yellow River was the just original breeding place of the soybean plant.In this part besides the soil condition the author detailed every aspects of the traditional cultivation experience of the soybean, from the selection of seeds, breeding of seeds, sowing techniques until the harvest time. Through these comprehensive investigations, the author tried to draw some inspiration from the traditional cultivation techniques and provided it to the modern soybean industry. And at large this research would also afford some useful references to the modern agriculture.Through the analysis of upper parts, the author pointed out the cultivation history of soybean in China had its special features. The planting experience accumulated in the past thousands years not only helped people to overcome the frequent natural disasters and prevent them from the famine, but also kept the variety of the soybean species. It was no doubt that the prosperity of the Chinese nation was based on the soybean culture in certain extent.
