Gansu Yellow River Water Supply District is located in the eastern edge ofQinghai-Tibet Plateau, Yellow River source region. It is an important ecologicalbarrier on Upstream of Yellow River , at the same time the ecological andenvironmental problems on the area of Gannan Yellow River water supply, isimportant for maintenance of the Yangtze River, Yellow River's ecological safety is ofspecial ecological significance.However, there existing some issues such as compensation standards "fits",unitary compensation method and so on in the current design and implementation ofgrassland restoration project,which causing serious influence the results of grazing tograssland . And the successful construction of grassland restoration project is not onlyrelated to the region ecological environment can be improved, while relations insocial stability and economic development of rural areas in Gansu province, and evenendanger the Midwest ecological security.Formulating the scientific compensation standard and choosing reasonablecompensation method is not only the core of the mechanism for ecologicalcompensation in the Yellow River water supply areas of Gannan,but also is one of thedifficulties of the establishment of the ecological compensation mechanism ,from theherdsmen and the reality of local demand, strengthen the compensation standard andcompensation methods further research, can ensure the sustainability grasslandrestoration project, realizing the uniy of ecological benefit and economical benefit.In this paper, based on environmental economics, public economics theory, usingthe means that combining the theoretical analysis and empirical.researching in-depthanalysis of grazing to grassland in the Yellow River water supply areas ofGannan ,having analysised of the current water supply area of the Yellow River inGansu to implement the problems of grassland restoration project in the YellowRiver water supply areas of Gannan, while by the development of standardscompensation and selection compensation methods as the core, the research done andcalculated.The main conclusions are as follows:(1) There have 2.386 million hm2 grassland in the Yellow River water supply areas of Gannan, its function of water conservation, sand-fixing function is play animportant role for the ecological security of Yellow River, Yangtze River, however,there exist some problem of grassland restoration project at present such as theabsence of Compensation main unreasonable compensation standard,singlecompensation method, imperfect monitoring mechanism and so on, resulting theresults of grassland restoration can not consolidate, macrophages need to study it.(2) carring out grassland restoration project is contribute to enhance the watersupply capacity in the Yellow River water supply areas of Gannan. The results showthat when the compensation amount is high enough, farmers will change the mode ofproduction, provision of water supply capacity grass will gradually increase; when thecompensation respectively reached 1024.3 yuan / hm~2, 999.79元/ hm~2, 861.74元/hm~2, 1008.54元/ hm~2, 585.54元/ hm~2, 983.22元/ hm~2 in Hezuo,Xiahe,,Maqu,Luqu,Zhuoni,Lintan Lintan, the water recharge area would add up to 2.253×10~9m~3.(3) The diversity of the compensation main objects and the diversity of demandcompensation decide the compensation mode should be diversity. However,thecompensation in the Yellow River water supply areas of Gannan mainly based fundscompensation and in-kind compensation, pastoral development needs are not met,which affected the enthusiasm of its ecological construction. From the study area 120by herdsmen grazing empirical investigation, analyzied the choice of theircompensation preferences, combined with the local geographical characteristics,considering that to sustain the continuity of grassland restoration project should beshould be taken to technology-based compensation and the ability to combine thediversity of physical compensation in the Yellow River water supply areas of Gannan.
