Monitoring System, Gsm-based Farmland Weather Information Remotely

Agricultural information is the trend of the modern agriculture. Recently, the ways and instruments to acquire the farmland information have been greatly developed. And the technology of GSM provides a new mode for farmland information management. Howerver, as a whole, many problems still exist, such as farmland information acquisition are relatively less advanced with low efficient, difficult routing, high cost, distance limitation, restricted network access permission in data remote transmission, and difficult management in monitoring center because of excessive equipments and dispersed distributing.Based on the problems of farmland information collection and management system (FICMS) in precision farming, the contribution of this work was to present to bind embedded technology with wireless network and Internet in FICMS. It was intent to provide new ways for collecting and managing farmland meteorological information. In this system, the merits of traditional methods in acquiring meteorological information were involved. Finally, the system integrated GSM with Intetnet to construct a hierarchical network model, and defined two application layer protocols for more efficient transmission control, data recognition and data management, which not only improve these tranditional problems, but also can support data query of users from Internet and GSM, so it could provide a platform and supports for regions and schemes determination, rational distribution of field crops, artificial regulation of microclimate, crop cultivation and agrometeorological Forecasting service, which was convenient for decision-making of users. As an application system, the GSM based monitoring system took the practical application into account. The result of experiment in the proving ground of Kunming University of Science and Technology shows that the proposed architecture is effective and efficient, and the given software and hardware design is feasible. The established remote monitoring system is flexible to be extended or reduced, and its technical parameters can be up to actual demand for remote monitoring of farm field meteorological information. Main research contents and results are:(1) Investigated and analysised the actual situation and existing problems of the farmland information collection at home and abroad based on lots of datum, and probed to the objective and significance of research. In conclusion, the FICMS based on wireless network is the main trend.(2) Comparing and the analysing characteristics of wireless technologies according to the objiect, such as GSM, GPRS, CDMA. Finally, the GSM wireless communication was verified to be the right scheme in farmland meteorological information collection.(3) Based on the principles and application of GSM technology, a network wireless collection node and a terminal were designed. And c language was used for developing the software, which supported three models (time sending, alarm sending and key sending) to implement data acquisition, data displaying, data memory data transimmiton and data alarm.(4) Programming with VB.NETå'ŒSQL Server, the farmland meteorological information management system was developed. Furthermore, the system can provide data query services for licensed mobile user. To be added, for the simplicity of data query from licensed Internet users, the farmland meteorological information WEB publishing system was developed with ASP.NET.(5) Two application layer protocols, which will be useful for reducing congestion, were defined for more efficient transmission control and data recognition among collection nodes, monitoring center and mobile users.(6) Several critical technologies in developing this system were probed, such as circuit diagram, PDU, SMS,.NET and SQL Server. With these technologies, serval dificult problems in our development were got solved.
