Along with the rapid progression of artillery digitalization, the traditional survey support model can no longer satisfy the requirements of artillery operations but has become the"bottleneck"to contain the development of artillery. Automation of survey support means refers to the comprehensive processing capability of information of artillery operation space and information of survey materials, which takes the computer technology and rapid positioning technology as the center, which is also a development tendency of artillery survey support.This thesis, having taken the realization of automation of survey support as the final goal, has studied in profound detail the functional structure of automatic fire direction system and the mission requirements of artillery survey support, has found out the systematic construction of the automatic survey support system and the composition of the function models, and has developed"ArAuto3S"—automatic artillery survey support system by means of target-faced software development mode, which makes the automation of artillery survey come true functionally. Furthermore, this thesis, having analyzed in depth the three-dimensional terrains which have been drafted by use of Grid DEM, has discussed the premier technological issues concerning the visualization of 3-D terrains, has discovered the computation methods of analyzing several types of terrain and has realized the simulation of terrain under five different kinds of weather conditions. Finally, this thesis has initialized the experimentation of joint/interface programs of GPS-OEM board and computer, has finished designing the partial program of reading data from the OEM board, and has compiled the mapping program of tactical marks and the collection program of the vector data, thus having achieved the seamless connection between the database and the automatic survey support system.The detailed study of this thesis has not only improved the accuracy of artillery survey support operation but also shortened the time duration of survey support, thus having laid a foundation for further development of larger, more automatized and more reliable survey support systems.
