This thesis presents the infrared imaging model of the terrain backgrounds, offing backgrounds and a simple ground object (oil tank) through theoretic simulation and makes the corresponding software for the purpose of the simulation of the infrared detector and its demonstration. The 3-D transient temperature model of the oil tank is established and the model is solved with the finite difference method. The 3-D geometrical model of the ground is built by the adoption of the DEM, and the finite difference method is applied to simulate the time evolution of temperature in the subsurface material of the terrain on the basis of the previous work. The Monte Carlo method is introduced to calculate the sun's incident projective area of unit surface. A certain kind of wave spectrum is chosen to establish geometrical model of the 3-D random wave. The radiative flux during the infrared wavelength of the three parts is calculated, and the angle and position of the detector are taken into account and finally the radiative flux pictures of the three parts are simulated by OpenGL.
