Zinc smelting plays an important role in the non-ferrous metal smelting of our country, the current way to produce large zinc ingots is releasing-groove casting, which has many problems such as large energy loss, large melt oxidation, long releasing preparation time, and poor processing safety and so on. A new technology for zinc casting using stainless steel melt pump was launched inland, but because of the strong causticity of the zinc liquid, melt pump can not be used for a long time, which obstructs the popularization of this technology.This paper is supposed to analyses structure and performance of a kind of corrosion resistant melt pump with high-strength graphite as main body, to provide evidence for design and manufacture of this new kind of zinc liquid pump, to provide key production technology basis for high efficient and low consumption production of zinc ingots. This paper adopted a method of computational fluid dynamics to simulate the relationship between structural parameters and performance and optimize the key structural parameters, and tested the performance of this new graphite pump with industrial experiment. The main research works are as follows:1. The existing production process for zinc ingots, the technology of zinc liquid pump and the design and analysis methods of centrifugal pump were analyzed.2. Based on the computational fluid dynamics method, the different turbulence models are analyzed. Combined with computational fluid dynamics software, the geometry model and boundary conditions in the flow field of zinc pump were established, and simulation model for zinc pump flow data analysis was constructed.3.Through numerical simulation, the inner flow field, pressure field and work performances (pump lift, efficiency) of zinc pump with different pump volute spiral size, different angle, shape and diameter of impeller straight hole were analyzed. And the optimized structure parameters of zinc pump were obtained afterwards, which indicate that the zinc pump with small pump volute spiral size, impeller hole 11 degree angle, elliptic hole and 8-hole impeller has higher efficiency.4. Industrial experiments of the new zinc pump were accomplished, and the pump lift and efficiency were tested. The results show that the zinc pump's efficiency reaches 50%, which is identical with the simulation results.
