Switched reluctance motor (SRM) take on the merits such as simple structure,low-cost, flexible control, etc.Switched reluctance drives system (SRD) is the outgrowth with the combination linkage of the mechatronics theories, the modern power electronics technique and the advanced microprocessor control technique, which not only has low-cost, strong structure, good fault-tolerant and heat-resistant capability, but also hasexcellent controlling- ability. Thus, this dissertation is focused on the theory of intelligent control and control system design for SRM.With the development of microelectronic technology and computer technology, the functions of micro-controller chips is becoming more powerful, and the equipment as well as systems embedded micro-controller chips is becoming more and more,which lead the the widely use of embedded systems technology. ARM architecture is the most popular and the most perspective in embedded systems. Along with the very fast development,ARM is applied to more and more areas,especially in mechatronic production.Because of this condition,the research of SRD based on ARM is necessary. The first part of the paper summarizes the development and research of switched reluctance drive and the overview about ARM controller, discusses the main research direction, and explains the main work and the significance of the research work in this paper.In part 2, the structure of SRM, operation principle are elaborated and analyzed. This part is the master of the paper.Based on the analysis of quasi-linear modeal of SRM, part 3 reach a basis for the study and design in the later sections.This work is necessary and indispensable. To be special, the work include: the study of basic equations of SRM, the linear analysis of phase current, the analysis of quasi-linear modeal of SRM, and the preliminary description of MATLAB/simulink, which is a mathematical modeling and simulation tools normally used in the filed of modern electrical control.In part 4, LPC2364 ARM is used to design the hardware circuits of SRM control system, and design of power converter, and design details including the power converter, the current detection, position sensing, fault protection, schematic diagram for star and stop and schematic diagram for speed etc. Part 5 discusses the routine designing issue. In this section, routines, PWM subroutine, PI subroutine etc, are used to obtain control over SRD with a speed feedback loop.The speed control system is based on speed and current dual-loop.Finally, through experiment, this artical shows the drive signal waveform , the waves form of motor's current , and the data about speed.
