Hot blast valve is an important and indispensable equipment of the hot blast stove. It installed at outlet of the hot blast stove, playing the roles of switching. With the temperature of the hot blast air is to increase, using high pressure operation, the working conditions become more and more hash. Hot blast valve works at 900℃to 1350℃and at pressure about 0.5MPa, and it is the worst equipment in the valve system. Owing to variety of heat transmission and complicacy of structure for hot blast valve, it gets manufacture factory to calculate heat transmission and hot stress only by experience. And that reliability is unilaterally emphasized causes big cooling water capacity, high water speed, big heat losses and low equipment longevity. Comparing overseas hot blast valves with domestic hot blast valves for the same type, water consumption is low, and heat loses is small, but it is longevity.Aimed at existing shortcoming for existing hot blast valves in our country, it is necessary to analyze the thermal field and the thermal stress field for hot-blast valve. In this paper, take example for a 1800mm diameter hot Blast Valve with Minimum Cooling, calculated the thermal field and the thermal stress field for hot-blast valve, thus, it can provide a theoretical basis for the hot blast valve design and maintenance.Sequence coupling method is used to analyze the thermal field and the thermal stress field by using the ANSYS finite element method. At modeling process, it is necessary to simplify the hot valve plate structure. In the calculation process, according to real work condition for valve plate, nonlinearity of material parameter considered, the thermal field and the thermal stress field is carried out.Analysis results show that the valve plate opened and closed at a cycle, temperature difference of the refractory surface is big, and more easily lead to thermal fatigue of refractories. Simultaneously the thermal stress of the valve plate outer water ring which is the weakest place of the valve plate is biggest. With the time increasing, the outer water ring is most likely to have a crack. The result is identical with the existing failure forms and failure region. Accordingly, correctness of simulation is tested and verified.
