This paper mainly studies the deforming process of the deformable warhead and the power of its fragment by means of theoretics and numerical simulation,the distribution characteristic of fragments in the target's direction is also researched. Because of the complexity of the mechanism, the precise theory analysis is very difficult. Based on the analysis of the mechanism and structure of deformable warhead, the three-dimension finite element analytic model of deformable warhead is established. by utilizing the code LS-DYNA,the deforming process of the deformable warhead and the projectile process of its fragments are numerically simulated. The fragment velocity and densities distribution regularity of the deformable warhead are obtained. The effect of deforming charge in the deforming process and the function of attenuation layer to reduce the shock-wave is discussed,the impact factors of the fragment velocity and distribution characteristic under different initiation pattern and position are also studied.The results show that in comparison with the uniform warhead which with the uniform caliber and charge type, the enhancements in fragment average velocity and densities of the deformable warhead are much higher than the uniform warhead in the target's direction, and the damage effect of the the deformable warhead is increased. The results of this paper can provide a useful reference when design for this kind of warhead.
