This thesis that the researchful object was brake studied the theory of KBE and ES, summarized many experiences and rules on brake design, applied it to the concrete development of design platform, analyzed the law that the main dimension parameters of brake affect the performance of brake, and put forward some formulas to predict the performance of brake. This thesis also deeply studied knowledge expression method, the mode of establishing knowledge base, the realization method of inference mechanism under 0-0 environment. Combining with the real production fact, the thesis provided an effective design example using CAD/CAE means.On the basis, utilizing Visual Basic programming language, a knowledge based Brake Design Platform) was developed primarily. It can be known that using PR(product rule) method combining with FS (frame structure) method can make knowledge expression more convenient and practical. Using the "loose & tight coupling"style not only make for the refresh, expand and administration of knowledge but also can improve the efficiency of design platform inference. Aiming at different inference phases and problems, combining RBR(rule_based reasoning) with FM(fuzzy matrix) reasoning by using different inference mechanism is easy to realize solve strategy of the fuzzy inference mechanism. Proved by the design example, the platform can solve the actual problems of produce and design well and reduce the products developing time and design cost greatly.
