With the development and reform of power system, in order to ensure safe, high quality and economical operation of power grid and operation of power market, there may have many application systems in ordinal operation in Power System Dispatching Center, such as Energy Management System (EMS), dispatch Distribution Management System (DMS), Power Energy Measurement System, Dispatch Production Management System, Power Market Technology System and Protection Information System and so on. Every system comprises many applications, such as EMS includes SCADA, AGC, network analysis and DTS. These bring problems of resources sharing between every system, disposal of large data storage and high complication of monitoring. This paper summarizes the key problems and applications of new technology in new generation of Dispatch Automation System. Four sides are discussed in this paper, including integrative design and realization of network platform, hardware platform, software platform and application interface in new generation of Dispatch Automation System, application of time sequence database in Dispatch Automation System, application of visualization technology in Dispatch Automation System, and integrative construction of Dispatch Automation System and protection and fault information system. At last, the prospect of design and realization of new generation Dispatch Automation System are viewed and analyzed.1. Based on traditional Dispatch Automation System and integrating the requirements of modern dispatch automation, the advanced integrative platform of Dispatch Automation System is constructed, through integrative design and realization of network platform, hardware platform, software platform and application interface.2. Integration and use of time sequence database in Dispatch Automation System are realized through the use of advanced computer software and database technologies. This realization can increase the speed and efficiency of data storage and read in the system, and also increase dispatchers' monitor and control capability on the system. And it can provide stable base for integration of general information data.3. Advanced visualization technology is integrated in new generation of Dispatch Automation System, which breaks the traditional monitoring means and methods of Dispatch Automation System. This realization can enhance the system's monitoring capability.4. Protection and fault information system are integrated in Dispatch Automation System. This can realize the general utilization of power grid information and enhance fault analysis capability of Dispatch Automation System.In this paper, the necessity of realization of integrate all kinds of advanced technology to traditional Dispatch Automation System is discussed. Based on the technology of present Dispatch Automation System and the development of power grid, the new generation of Dispatch Automation System is designed and realized by using the latest computer software and hardware technology, which break through and extend the traditional Dispatch Automation System.
