Swill collector is commonly consist of universal chassis of an automotive vehicle and an appropriative pot, which is fixed on the chassis.Because the swill is putrescible solid-liquid admixture of poor fluidity, swill collector should be sealed, easy to charge and discharge, convenient to collect and for cleanout, high automatization, stable. It can improve transport efficiency, reduce transport cost, avoid swill's leaking in the transport process, ensure efficiently the requirement of city environment. The swill collector has been used in the developed country overseas, its design and manufacture technology is comparatively mature. Interiorly, it is in the stage of fetching in and imitating. Owing of shortage of mature design technology, its structure seems ponderous, lack of innovation in appearance, the design and manufacture cycle is long, manufacture cost is high. About the study on design method of swill collector has not been reported. In this paper, the tank body is the research object. Entity models are built based on UG software, hree-dimensional finite element models are built with finite element analysis software ANSYS 10.0, with displacement boundary conditions given. The material models and loading process are set up and a finite element analysis procedure for simulation conditions is implemented. The numerical results include the tank's von Mises stress distribution and deformation and predict the displacement and von Mises stress distribution under different thickness. The local intensity can be learned through the vibration model and the responding frequency of the tank which are obtained from the modal analysis. The results of finite element analysis are validated by comparison of the calculated tank performance and measured experimental data. In this paper, calculated results can be used in optimizing the structure of the tank body.
