With the rapid development of the railway's high speed and heavy duty, the work mode of combining tamping express with dynamic track stabilizer has resulted in those problems of occupying railway and lower track maintenance quality, which have become more and more distinct. Therefore, it is of great significance to develop a new typed tamping unit with tamping and stabilizing functions.There are three parts presented and studied as follows:First of all, on the base of the vibration mechanism, the paper analyzes the disadvantage of the woke mode of combing tamping express with dynamic track stabilizer and presents the double advantages of ballast tamping and stabilization of the road bed that the new typed tamping unit has.Secondly, the dynamic model for the new type of tamping unit is set up. Meanwhile, this paper offers the elliptical equation, the condition of realizing the balanced elliptical motion and the calculation method of elliptical azimuth.Thirdly, the virtual model of the new tamping unit is built up on the platform of software Pro/e and it is put into software ADAMS for multi-rigid dynamic simulation analysis. And then, the motion curves of specified connect positions are gained, which prove the tamping shuttle combined the elliptical vibration and clamping movement of the hydraulic cylinder. In the end, after analyzing the vibration frequency both at home and abroad and the characters of the ballast of railways in our country, the paper puts forward the fact that the vibration frequency at about 60 Hz proves most beneficial to the ballast tamping and stabilization of the road bed.
