With the rapid development of communication technology in the military and civil area, transceiver front-end is widely used in microwave and millimeter-wave radars and communication systems. Modern radar and guidance, electronic countermeasures, communications, remote sensing and remote measurement system have been gradually expanded to millimeter-wave band, according to the development of the system, the operating frequency of transceiver front-end has been increased too. Millimeter-wave transceiver front-end which has the advantages of small size, light weight and etc., is more suitable for modern military and communication system.Millimeter-wave devices is the basic unit of the millimeter-wave transceiver front-ends, and affect the performance of millimeter-wave transceiver modules directly. The article is mainly on study of the theory and design of millimeter-wave transceiver front-end from the active devices and passive components. The pivotal passive components of the module are the waveguide to microstrip transition and the filters. Three structures of waveguide to microstrip transition have been discussed and simulated, the microstrip prboe transition is chosen to apply in the transceiver. The millimeter-wave bandpass filter of emission path, based on the theory of filtes and simulation software, is designed by the method of parameter extraction. In the LO link, we use a band-stop filter with micro-strip. LC low-pass filter is used as the IF filter. The main active devices in the module are millimeter-wave amplifier, multiplier and mixer. Combining the index of the module, the MMIC active devices are chosen reasonably. The supply scheduling design and power supply logic design, avoid the loss of MMIC made by the mistake of DC-procedure, achieve low power cost, and improve reliability and stability of the system..According the main technique index, we put forward a design scheme of Ka band precision guidance transceiver front-end, simulate the entire scheme with ADS and validate the scheme with hybrid millimeter integrated circuit. The modules is fabricated in the 80mm×60mm×14mm cavity. The frequency discrepancy between emission signal and LO is 60MHz. Through the microwave switch, Emission signal is turned to pulse signal, and multiplied to millimeter wave.The output power is more than 500mW, and the frequency range is 2GHz. The gain of receiver is higher than 25dB, and the noise figure is less than 5dB.
