Auotmobile industry has been developing very fast, at the same time ,automobile noise pollution has been severer than before.The reduction of exhaust noise is the key to the reduction of automobile noise.At present,the main method to reduce exhaust noise is that place muffler in automobile exhaust system,so researching the performance of the muffler has great signifiance. The work of the thesis is acoustic performance simulation analysis by computer and experiment study.Simulating acpustic characteristics of engine exhaust system and muffler by computer,muffler performance can be predicted,and the effect of various construct features of muffler can be reflected. based on 4100QB engine,this paper discusses the theoretical basis and muffler finite element simulation analysis, the three-dimensional model of muffler is established based on the FEM.Paper acquire a finite element mesh use the PATRAN, Based on the physical modeling of the improved muffler,internal acoustic problem of the muffler was numerically simulated by the SYSNOISE software with the finite element method and the simulation results were analyzed. Analysis of the muffler's internal acoustic transmission characteristics and muffler internal pressure and airflow distribution. Volume change of the simulation calculation of the transmission loss is given, and the simulation results are acquired .In the experiment,the engine exhaust muffler was improved with the calculation and analysis of the model,then tested these improved models. The experiment results indicate that: the increase of volume can be appropriately increased volume muffler, without prejudice to the reduce noise, the volume of muffler can reduce to a certain extent. Diameter and expansion room at the same time reducing the high-frequency region results will not be affected,the volume optimization method is put forward.
