Coal Handling System is a main auxiliary system in the thermal power plant, which includs grab type shipunloader, stacker reclaimer, convery system and other auxiliary equipments. Base on the study of alteration of the coal handling control system in the Beilun Thermal Power Plant and depend on the new technology of PLC, Fieldbus and SCADA system,we research and discuss the design and realization of the control system for the coal hanling system.The optimization of the fieldbus data exchange, historical Database of the SCADA system and the empolder of report forms are the main aspects of this paper.The first parts of the paper introduce the summarization of the Coal Handling System, the Fieldbus and the software of SCADA system.Depend on the characteristic of the coal handing control system, the second part introduce the application of control system in the overseas and expatiate the main work of our research.The third part analyse the scheme of the PLC control system, base on the boiler need coal continuously, we excogitate a new method to commissioning the system and give out a particular data for optimizing the fieldbus.The fourth part of the paper introduce the method of setting the data exchange drive of the SCADA system, such as OPC POWERTOOL and SI7 POWERTOOL.Excogitate for the historical database and the use of SQT/SQD data block are the main aspects of the software designing. The fifth parts of the paper also give a new way for backup and compress the database online.Besides the PLC control system update for phase I, all the control system inside the coal handling system which include phase I, phase II and the limestone system can controlled by one SCADA system. The working efficiency was improved and the maintenance difficulty reduced. The application of fieldbus technology make the auxiliary equipments can communication with the main control system and also can be controlled with the SCADA system.
