The principle of forward rushing of certain 122mm howitzer, refersto that during thebody of ordnance backlashes, some methods are utilzed to consume the recoiling kineticenergy, which thereby can reduce the force acted on the ordnance's frame. The reductionmeans the decrease of size, weight and so on, which can not only bring convenience tostructure design, processing, installation and using, but also economize a great deal ofprecious metal materials. Furthermore, the application of this principle makes it possibleto make ordnance light and improve the campaign ability. In FOOB mode, the firing sequence is radically different than that for a conventionalweapon. The gun is captured and preloaded in its out-of-battery position prior to firing. This position compares to a conventional system's maximum recoil location. Whenunlatched, forward momentum is imparted to the recoiling parts, which will eventually beopposed by the ballistic force imparted by firing a round. The ballistic impulse imparted tothe gun reverses the momentum and returns the recoiling parts to their latched positionready for the next round. This paper puts up a relatively systematic and theoretical analysis on the principle offorward rushing, which may also be called the principle of eliminating kick The paper alsopresents the design and calculating methods making use of the principle. The methods of theoretical analysis and calculating presented here are effective todesign this kind of ordnance They also have important reference value on applicationtechnologies of designing such ordnance in the future...
