This paper describes the structure of a composite sabot, include the meshing structurebetween sabot and penetrator and the structure of configuration. The principle of clearancemeshing technique was introduced, the clearance of a simplified KE projectile wascalculated in theory and applied to 30mm APDS which has project background in practice.By the agency of dynamic analysis, the simulation of APDS with this structure was carriedout while in the bore of the gun. While applying appropriate clearance to the compositesabot, the max von mises stress of tooth surface decreased rapidly. With the increase of theclearance, the position of the max von mises stress changed and on contrary the value ofthe stress increased. The stress of each tooth surface can't be subequal merely by theclearance meshing technique. By the analysis of homo-shearing stress configuration ofsabot, the surface between gas and sabot was moved to the middle of the sabot. With theclearance meshing technique, the max von mises stress of tooth surface decreased farther.This paper gave reference to the sabot design with the materials of low density and lowintensity.
