Because of the inevitable errors in the design, the material selection, the manufacture and the assemble process of the motor, generally, the mass center of the motor rotor will deviate from the rotating center. When the motor operates at a high speed the vibration and the noise will be generated. The vibration is harmful because it will influence the operation and shorten the life of the motor. It is necessary to balance each motor rotor. The small-scale motor is one of the widely used products in industry and civil life. By the year of 2005 its yield reached 8 billion, in which 80% motors were produced in China. With the development of the motor towards the direction of high speed and high accuracy the traditional manual balancing method cannot meet the requirement any more. An automatic balancing machine with a high efficiency and high accuracy is urgently needed. Although there are abroad products, their prices are quite high, and there are many special requirements to the processed rotor. They cannot adapt to the present situation of ChinaBased on the present situation of China, the abroad automatic balancing machine, the balancing knowledge and the advantage of ourselves, this thesis studies the two-position automatic balancing machine. Presently the machine has been completed and put into trial operation. The result of 4-moonth trial operation is satisfying, the success rate of one time cut is over 80%, which meets the design requirement..The thesis includes the following works:1) The overall framework of the machine is designed. The machine is divided into several modules according to the function;2) The mechanical design of the machine is completed. The stiffness and the strength of some key parts are analyzed with the finite element method. Some structures are optimized;3) The control system based on the PLC, MCU and touch panel is designed, which includes the scheduled functions;4) The human-machine interface is programmed, which makes very convenient operation;5) The key technologies, which include the measurement of the influence coefficient, the automatic knife aiming method, the automatic position method and the cutting modelling method, are studies.6) The overall debugging and trial operation are completed.
