Cam Bench Test System

Cam mechanism is widely used in the field of mechanism, especially in automation and automatic machine, because of its excellent characteristics such as compact structure, stable performance, effectively accurate control and well adaptability. Nowadays, cam mechanism is indispensable in the industrial manufacture, and its extensive availability has promoted the research and development for itself. With the fast development of computer technology, the design scheme and machining precision for the cam mechanism could be greatly improved by computer aided technique /function.The work in this paper focuses on the research and development of cam test-bed for teaching purpose. The testing system of cam test-bed is established with LabWindows/CVI, which is the virtual instrument developing platform developed by American corporation NI.The testing system of cam test-bed, which could finish data acquisition and processing, was constructed by combining the CVI developing platform with PCI-bus data acquisition card and proper sensors. The testing system developed was of friendly communicating interface, less time-consuming, and well functional expansibility.Firstly, the international and domestic situations of cam test-bed and virtual instrument software were introduced, and the significance of this research work was discussed. The researching means of cam mechanism has changed from manual calculating to computer aided analyzing and processing. Virtual instrument software technology, which combines with computer technology, communication technology and testing technology, is the trend of electrical measuring and auto testing.Secondly, according to the research schedule, the selection of sensor and data acquisition card was described from both of hardware and software sides/aspects. The functional implement/realization of the testing system was also illustrated. The selection of sensor and data acquisition card is vital to the testing system, which is the necessity for the accurate data acquisition.Finally, some suggestions about the trial-manufacture of the cam test-bed were given.
