The housing construction occupies the overwhelming majority in the proportion of the city construction. The research of the system to the traditional construction in our country start to be later, it was began only until the 1950s. And the research was carried on intermittently and dispersedly, so there is no obvious achievement. After 1980s, the research to the traditional housing constructions was developed rapidly, and proposed the many slogans, such as "Residence——the creation fountainhead" , "Residence——the important model of construction design" . The appearance of one city, in some degrees, is always seen from the houses which people live in. Thorough the research to the traditional housing constructions, we can learn the original in formations and experiences, the construction technology, the method of design and the creation rules. In the foundation of that, we can design the more modern and the more suitable houses.Time Architecture has promoted the discussion of the modern strategy to the Chinese type housing, to analysis how to understand the problem of the Chinese type housing. Many architects were pay more attention to this problem. In this article, I give my recognition to the concept of "Chinese Type" through the elaboration to the development of the Chinese traditional housing constructions, the national disposition and the behavior pattern in the living life which were influenced by the traditional culture. In my opinion, in the foundation of living' s double faces, the "Chinese Type" should be adjoined to the conditions of today' s China and people' s life style. In this style, we should not only inherit the essence from the elements of architectural esthetics, but also think about the people' s life style. Take the behavior pattern as the first consideration, which will speak to the function spaces, to create the spirit of the traditional architecture again. Then we will find our lost homeland and our lost soul. In the end of this article, I show an experimental design carries on this concept. I hope to show my recognitions of the "Chinese Type" more clearly and straightly. And I hope to give my slight power to improve the quality of people' s life, which is always our duty and conscience.
