The gamma ray in rocks and soil in the earth's crust is main research in the field gamma ray spectrometry survey. Their energy range is mainly 30-3000 keV, they contain abundant information of natural radioactive nuclides, such as uranium, thorium, potassium, etc, and of artificial radioactive nuclides from nuclear engineering activity, and of the results in interaction between γ and earth's crust. In actually the research of y spectrometry data collection system is the basis and important subject of whole detecting and researching item about nuclear information.This design ,on the basis of the hardware and software research in which the processor is ARM7TDMI (-S) as the core, introduces USB HID interface technology, not only exert the characteristic of USB interface, such as the common popularization, the high speed transfers and the simplification, but also insure the data communication between the USB interface instrument and the PC without drivers ,which greatly shorten the development period and improve the efficiency of developing of the whole instrument.There are some advantages in the research result of this paper compared with the national and oversea gamma ray data collection:1. The data collection has the 32-bit ARM7TDMI (-S) as the controlling core with LCD display, keyboard, clock and memory circuit in periphery circuit. Users could control it to accomplish the process of collecting, memory, calculating and analyse on data without computers. The whole system has some characters, such as low power, miniaturization, high proportion of quality and price and etc.2. The design realized the correspondence between y data collection system and PC. With the rapid development of PC, USB will replace RS-232 applied in nuclear instruments. Therefore, it is meaningful for the research of USB applied in nuclear instruments.3. This design realizes the design of USB HID class that system is identified as a HID equipment by pc, such as the process of identifying a mouse or a keyboard. Therefore, the correspondence between PC and this system could be realized without boring drivers,which greatly cuts periods of exploiture, improves exploiture efficiency and is convenient for the maintenance and upgrade of the whole system.4. This design adopts a 32-bit ARM technology so that we can research and design the nuclear spectrometry data collection system on further technology and it will be a necessary technology storage for designing new nuclear instruments.
