Spectrum analysis-detection and spectrometer has been widely used in many fields, such as modern scientific experiments, biological research, medicine and pharmacy, industrial and agriculture production, national defense and astronomical observation. With the development of the modern techniques, traditional spectrometer cannot satisfy the need of current development, its miniaturization, micromation, speediness and intelligentization have become more and more important in many fields. At the same time, it's required to be easy operation, more reliable, low cost and interference-free, and so on. For these reasons, mini multi-channel fast-scan spectrometer has become a trend of the spectrometer.This paper introduces a mini multi-channel fast-scan spectrometer which uses plane grating as spectro-grating, linear array CCD as detecting element, and is based on MCU and USB2.0 interface. This spectrometer, which is characterized by small volume, high speed and precision, plug and play, can performs fast, real-time test of several spectral parameters, and also can be used for the design of other instruments.This paper, firstly, gives a retrospect of the development of spectrometer, compares the spectrum test methods in common use, and introduces the characteristics and research meanings of this spectrometer. Then introduce some related theories of colorimetry and radiometry.Then introduce the structure of system which is detailed in three aspects. Firstly, introduce the optical splitting system and analyse the spectro-grating. Secondly, detail the hardware of high speed spectrum acquisition. Thirdly, introduce the design of firmware and software.Then explain the methods and steps of instrument calibration, compare experiment results with advanced instrument in order to validate the performance of this spectrometer, and also analyse the influencing aspects of performance according to uncertainty theory.Finally, several points and directions are proposed that the author believed could be further improved in the future.By practically use, we satisfy with the results of this instrument. It satisfies the demand of spectrum analysis and achieves the anticipative research aim.
