This thesis is about "Embedded Portable Navigator Integrated With The Function Of Digital Memory", one of the projects sponsored by Zhejiang Province Medium and Small Scale Enterprises Technology Innovation Fund.With the development of economy and technology, road transportation has been playing more and more important role in our life. As a significant part of road transportation, automobile navigator becomes attracting. This thesis study the multi-functional car navigation system with positioning and navigation function, block box function, voice promption function, mass storage function and all in one flash card reader function based on the theory and technology of embedded system, GPS/GIS and data storage. The system of car navigation adopts high performance, low power embedded SoC EP9315 that are based on ARM920T architecture as the system main controller.Based on the embedded system theory, this paper introduces the design of the embedded navigator, including its theory, hardware design and software design. This paper includes five chapters. In the first chapter, GPS history and future and the background of the thesis are presented. Chapter 2 introduces the related theory of design of Multi-functional Car Navigation System based on ARM EP9315. The system hardware design will be detailed in Chapter 3 and the software design of the system will be introduced in chapter 4. At last, a conculsion about the project will be presented.
