It has become a worldwide topic to search and apply the renewable energy such as solar energy in the case of shortage of non-renewable energy and breakage of entironment nowadays. Photovoltaic systems have been applied widely because of the benefit to environment. But under the influence of the sunlight intensity and surroundings temperature, the cost of solar array experiments is too high and the cycle of research and development becomes too long. The solar array simulator can shorten the cycle greatly and improve the efficiency of investigation and the reliability of result.Firstly, the theme shows the significance of study on the solar array simulator and introduces the information and defects of the analog solar array simulator. Then it brings forward the project of digital solar array simulator.Secondly, the theme studies the physical and mathematic models of silicon solar cells, and chooses the appropriate one to the simulator on the base of the study. Then it researches various algorithm to comfirm the work points of the simulator based on both the math model and capability of the simulator.Thirdly, in the theme the forward converter has been selected as the topology of the main circuit. The theme also analyses its working principle in detail and introduces its design. The solar array simulator works with the realtime detecting circuit and gets the controlling quantity to determine the pulse width of the output with processing the data. In my project, the MCU of XC164CS of the Co. infineon is selected, because its highest working frequency reaches 40MHz to satisfy with vast calculation.At last, the theme puts forward the experimental results and makes sure that the simulator in my design has a good performance. Its steady working points tallies with the ones on the simulated I-V output curve of solar array and simulates their dynamic transformation when the load is changed.
