Built-in Test is an important technical measure, which can improve the testing and diagnosis ability for the system and devices greatly. The generator control unit (GCU) is the control center of the aircraft electrical power generation system (EPGS), GCU provides protection, control and BIT function for the EPGS. The task of GCU BITE is detect the faults and isolate the fault to expected area when fault happened, and provide the evidence of valuing the system performance condition for aircrews and ground crews. BIT can record and indicate the related fault messages. In this paper, according to the analysis for the architeture ,principle, hardware system and software system of the A320 aircraft GCU,the BITE system is discussed in detail.Aiming at the limitation of the technology of general BIT, the intelligent BIT technology is analyzed which combine artificial intelligent technology with BIT. It is BIT intelligent detecting, BIT intelligent fault diagnosis and BIT general decision-making. Intelligent BIT technology can enhance the integration efficiency greatly. In this paper expert system is applied to the fault diagnosis of GCU BIT. At the same time, using fault-tree to obtain the logic relation among faults and making use of expert's suggestion information, the GCU fault diagnosis Expert System is finished. In conclusion, in this paper, according to the study and analysis of the A320 aircraft GCU BIT technology, the fault Diagnosis and testing project for the GCU is brought forward. Analyzing the request and the Mechanism of GCU fault detecting, the whole design of hardware and software for the GCU fault detecting is achieved.
