In recent years, the proportion that machining of complex surfaces, especially non-conventional curved surfaces, takes in the manufacturing industry turns larger and larger. The generation of non-conventional curved surface has become the key to reduce the developing cycle of a new product. Aiming at the current situation of the generation technology of the non-conventional curved surfaces, this paper takes an in-depth research on it. Main contents are summarized as the following:(1) The conception of high effect machining which is comprehensively concerned with profit, efficiency and quality is put forward. It then discusses its connotation, characteristics and the evaluation indexes for the high effect, the primary technological architecture that realizes complex surface machining is developed.(2) With the cylindrical cam mechanism as the example, we take an in-depth research on the principle of the digitalized generation for the model non-conventional curved surface part. Then, based on the cam transmission theory, equivalent machining and un-equivalent machining (with the cutter path dilated) are put forward.(3) Based on Pro/Engineer software, parameterized design on the relative solid modeling of cylindrical cam has been done. The simulation about digitized generation has been finished according to the Pro/NC.(4) A new concept "Group wolves manufacturing" is put forward. All factors that affect the machining process technology of the cylindrical cam are analyzed and integrated scientifically such as cylindrical cam's clamp, technology-line, cutter position, trajectory optimizing, machining parameters making and selection, etc.(5) Based on DMU70V 5-axles machining center, the cylindrical cam digitized generation system has been constructed, cylindrical cam digitized generation trial has been done and cylindrical cam of high quality generation has been finished.Cylindrical cam machined by digitized generation technology is successful in practical test, which reduces the heavy workload, improves the cylindrical cam's manufacturing and working precision. It gives us many important instructions for the research on generation technology of the non-conventional curved surfaces.
