With the rapid development of superconductor and power electronics, SMES arouses people's more and more attention. In SMES, the Current Regulator is a very important sector.In the dissertation, a Current Regulator and its control system have been studied for SMES. The circuit topology and the operational mode of the Current Regulator are analysed . A digital control system has been designed and tested in the experiment. In the control system, control signal is achieved mainly by TMS320F2812 digital signal processor , logical process of output signal is implemented by programmable logic CMOS chip GAL20V8. AD sample module , PID arithmetic module , PWM module and dynamic simulation module are designed respectively by C and Compile language. The Current Regulator and its control system can work steadily in the charge and discharge course of superconducting magnet and the result is satisfactory.At the same time, after comparing several PWM control mode of DC-DCconverter, a new control strategy------auxiliary voltage flexible switch technology isintroduced and has been experimented in the designed system. The result of experiment indicates that auxiliary voltage flexible switch technology is very perfect in the Current Regulator of SMES.
