Contraposing the developmental actuality of reactive power compensation equipment of nowadays, a DSP(Digital Signal Processor) controlled equipment is designed to compensate the rapid changing reactive power of the system in real time.Based on analysis of other methods, the paper introduces fuzzy control into Var compensation. This new method can manage the relationship between voltage quality and power factor properly and eliminate the repeatedly switching problem. Furthermore, it considers total harmonic distortion as one condition of control. So the method can avoid some problems, such as the over-compensation and the harmonic amplification. By using both delta and star connection capacitor, we realized grading and fast compensation for each phase.The controller' s hardware core is a 16-bit fix point DSP TMS320LF2407 produced by TI corp., which has many merits such as high operating speed and high real-time. The software design adopts both assemble language and C language, and uses the method of modularization which can improve the universal trait of the program and simplify the device' s maintenance.A compound switch is designed, which can switch capacitor without instantaneous rush current by means of zero-crossing triggering of SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier) components, and can realize auto-tracking reactive power and auto-switching shunt capacitor bank by using alternating current contactor instead of SCR in case of stable state.
