With the reforming of the market economy system and the progression of the national industry regulation, the power industry of Yunnan has being in a great change. Yunnan's installed power has exceeded 10000 MW in the end of 2003, and the transmitting power to Guangdong increases rapidly. Now, the Xiaowan power station is being constructed, Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Jinghong, Nuozhadu and other power stations are prepared for construction. Yunnan power industry faces a good opportunity that has never appeared before.In the transmitting power west to east, Yunan power grid lies in the headstream of middle and south channel, which has abundant energy sources and a big market foreground is expected. Yunnan province government has ranked the power industry as the backbone and bringing forward the total plan. Both the power exploitation of Yunnan and the electricity transmission are big systems engineering and which involves national property policies, natural factor, economic and technology condition. It would influence the domestic economy greatly. But it also faces lots of difficulties,among which are how to resolve the fluctuant power in different seasons and which mode to adopt for transmitting the huge power.Considering the planning process of power source in Yunnan, this paper discusses the countermeasures to the fluctuant power from follow aspects: increasing the current thermal power proportion, integrating the other province such as Guizhou's thermal power plants and others' to optimize the power structure at a specified future date, imitating the other countries successful experience related to build great adjustive reservoir and to implement step, attempering unitively and strengthening the demand side management.In the future, Yunnan's power energy transmission capability will exceed 40 GW and the distance will upward 1000 kilometres. The current transmitting capability of 500kV AC line could not satisfy the demand both on economy and on technology. This paper compares the strongpoint and shortcoming of the UHV, EHV and HVDC , then views the applying foreground of them in interconnection and transmission. The thesis analyses the reasons of theUHV development suspending abroad, discusses the reason, feasibility and exigency to develop UHV in our country, especially in Yunnan. In the higher-voltage AC line development, the author points that 1200kV line has more advantages than 800kV line.
