It can be realized quickly, expediently and accurately that the design system of axial fans in the environment of CATIA (computer Aided three Dimensional interactive Application), at the same time it can make use of three-dimensional engineering sculpting and correlativity between the two-dimensional models and the three-dimensional models. In the thesis the author firstly expounds the axial fans design of the basic theory, characteristic curve(characteristic parameter), outline of aerodynamics and the key technology of CAD system. Judging and classifying fans by analogical theory. It designs fan quickly by analyzing the fan product character(pressure current revolution and so on) the geometrical and the geometrical restriction, at the same time it can get outline of aerodynamics and non-unit characteristic parameters(characteristic curve) database by practicing to use modest design of fans analogical theory and good performance model.Then on the platform of CATIA, It can realize three-dimensional products choosing design by the technology of facing object and dimension-driving function. in the developing environment of VB(Visual Basic), database technology and modularization software program are used to develop the system of fan design and the interface between user and computer. Finally The system can output the engineering drawings of the designed fan, which finished the changing from three-dimensional products to two-dimensional drawings.In the thesis, the axial fan design system includes type-choosing module, design module and accessorial function module. It can realize axial fan type-choosing , parameterized designing of the parts and assembling of the components. It will accelerate the automatism of fan design, reduce the cost of fan design effectively and shorten the developing cycle of the fan products, which is obvious for enhancing the market competence of the corporations using with it.
