This dissertation primarily researches a method for determining the load distributions along the contact line and load sharing ratio of cylindrical gears during the whole engagement period. Based on the method, PRO/E and ANSYS software, an effective approach is developed for the three-dimensional finite element modeling and stress analyses of cylindrical gears. In order to analyze the bending stress on root fillet of gear teeth, the actual load distributions along the contact line and load sharing ratio of helical gears during the whole engagement period should be firstly calculated. Based on the coordinate systems of gear profile and the corresponding matrices of coordinate transformation, an effective method for determining the load distribution of external or internal helical gears is used. According to the reference coordinate system, the load distribution along the contact lines and load sharing ratio of cylindrical gears during the whole engagement period can be simultaneously evaluated.By using PRO/E software, an actual parametric model of cylindrical gears is constructed. The model can be easily changed in terms of gear geometric parameters. Using the ANSYS and PRO/E interface, the gear model is actually imported to ANSYS software. Then the model can be meshed and solved. The parametric loadings, solutions and displays of post-treatment are implemented by using FEM commands of ANSYS which are managed by the APDL program language and macros technique. All the procedures of analysis are parameterized, which is the most advanced technique of batch. During the whole process, repeatedly analyzing different dimensions and loads can be conveniently realized by modifying parameters, which is more efficiently and economically.Several calculating examples are given, which indicates this method is convenient and accurate.
