With the analysis of current situation of market requirements, this thesis discussed the deficiencies of manufacturing enterprises on producing cycle, cost and customer satisfaction, etc based on Textile Machinery manufacturing enterprises. In the fact that manufacturing enterprises are about to accept the theory of Mass Customization, the thesis presented the need of Rapid Design methodology which focus on rapid response of customer requirements, shortening of product design period, cost reducing and individualized product output. Built on the various studies of Rapid Design Methodology by national and international experts, the thesis proposed a Rapid Design methodology oriented to product family, which is an advanced design approach for modern market requirements. The modularization is regarded as the core technique of this methodology along with the data organization form by product family. The system structure of product family-oriented rapid design system, design object and software system components developing were presented on the body.1. On the analysis of theory and objective of Rapid Design, the thesis provided flow, functional and technical elements of product family-oriented rapid design system, and established whole system structure including technique, function and data layers.2. The thesis introduced the module theory to product family and product model after the definition of product family was clarified. It proposed function-principle-structure product family model on the module, which served as the basis of modularization and systematization. The case study of Fly Frames was presented in terms of modular design. Furthermore, the thesis studied information constitution of system and put forward a uniform object data model for the relational resources database.3. Software system components were detailed such as customer requirements management module, case based variant design module and design resources management module in terms of functional, technical and structural studies. The thesis introduced QFD, CBR and parameterized design, etc to the design system in order to carry out each technical part, the range from rapid and accurate response of customers to rapid design results. Developed an integrated and open software system for Textile Machinery rapid design based on software platform as C++Builder, Microsoft SQL Sever, Pro/Engineer, thesis described each functional module.The thesis made the conclusion in the end and proposed the prospect of this area.
