Computer aided engineering (CAE) can greatly reduce the development costs, shorten the research cycle and then improve design and manufacture process. At present, CAE has been getting focus from all engine fields, and it is applied into more and more projects. As a result, good benefits returns not only at the economy but also for the society. In present dissertation, a simulation for controlling the flow of chain lubrication system used in motorcycle is carried out. The VOF (Volume of Fluids) method is used on the platform of ANSYS/Flotran. The main products of this dissertation list as follow. Firstly, the information about the current development status of motorcycle lubrication system is analyzed, and then it is pointed out that the simulation of this lubrication system is in the scope of tracking the free surface. Secondly, a simulation model is built, verified and then validated on the basis of the understanding of the structure and experiment data, and afterwards we put forward the inference that the area of orifice and the form of outlet are most important factors. Further, using the built model expressed in APDL, some simulation results are gotten so as to provide material for formulation of the handbook of this product, while different parameters of this product's structure are discussed. All these results provide rich information for optimization for the structure of this product. In addition, the surveying and mapping of the outlet is finished, which will be helpful to understand this product deeply. At the end of this dissertation, some suggestions about subsequent work are presented.
