Automation And Component Gis In Highway Design In The Study

Road, the main traffic facility, plays a vital role in the development of national economy. The paper analyzes the shortcomings of generation methods of route plane figures and management modes in road trade. New techniques on computer are applied to overcome them, according to business procedure of design and management department of the highway. The results of study are successfully applied to the development of the Highway Design Geographical Information System of Zhoukou City, overcoming the inherent deficiencies of traditional methods. Some tasks have been made, as follows:1 .The plane figure of route is automatically generated in AutoCAD 2000,based on the secondary development of AutoCAD 2000 by Delphi 7. 0and VBA, the ActiveX Automation language.2.It has been realized that CAD figure data and corresponding attribute data in database are converted to Maplnfo, and the binding of figure data and its attribute data done. They can offer technical support in applying strong spatial analysis functions of GIS to aided design of highway.3.In the development of application system, SQL Server 2000 is selected as the attribute database platform, by contrasting of several popular databases. And database structures of all kinds of geographical entities are designed in detail.4 .According to the characteristic of road construction in our country, theoverall design plan of the system has come up, and functions of each part of it have been analyzed.5 .This paper reviews the development course of GIS, pointing out thatComGIS is a developing trend nowadays. So the component technique is introduced to overcome shortcomings of traditional design methods of GIS. It is successfully applied to the development of the Highway Design Geographical Information System of Zhoukou City by means of the component MapX. The system offers technical support and aided decision-making service in design and management of highway.
